Making The Band Dream A Reality

Hi! My name is Nostalgia, and I’m the creator and leader of Chromatic Dreamers. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Chromatic Dreamers is both a rookie band aiming for the stage and inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and a blog with beginner music tips and Japanese music resources.

I’ve been a fan of Japanese music since 2006 and a fan of anime for as long as I could remember. Music was my favourite subject through school and I played various isntruments casually, but there was one thing on my bucketlist that I couldn’t achieve as a teen, and that was to be in a band and play on stage.

As an adult, I’ve made a lot of changes in my life. Switching jobs for a better income, then pursuing my true childhood dream job. I also started travelling alone, my first trip was to Tokyo, Japan, then I visited other places in Canada. I stopped making excuses, stopped waiting on people, and stopped letting my fears hold me back.

In 2020, I decided to try guitar again as my new years resolution. And during my last solo trip in February, I started my first blog, as that was something I always wanted to do. I was up north in Yellowknife to see the Aurora, so I had a lot of free time between tours and activities.

After trying out Guitar Tricks, I wanted to learn more about Japanese music and why it sounded the way it did, but there were very few resources out there. I found it super frustrating cause when i would apply western music theory, it didn’t come close. But I also knew that the main reason I even picked up guitar was to play with a band, so i was a little low on motivation.

I decided to try again, inviting a member from my first failed band in 2014, Ptollemy, and a friend of friends I met when I attempted a Kpop dance group in 2015, Chu. Due to the pandemic, we only got to meet a couple times that summer before lockdowns started again. I did put up other ads and found Norman when we started up again  in June 2021.

Life is short. We only have one chance, so let's not live with regrets. Whatever your dreams are, big or small, I truly believe anything is possible if you work hard and keep your eyes on the prize.

A Blog for J-Music Fans & Musicians

After a few rehearsals, i asked the band if they wanted to do this casually and just have a few social medias, or if they wanted to take it seriously with a website, business cards and so on. They chose the serious route, thus I started this website.

I knew I would have to blog on this website to help it rank well, and I got advice on Youtube that said to get my first 30 articles up asap….so I did just that within a month….and then I just kept on writing.

When I thought about information I searched for but either couldn’t find information or or couldn’t find detailed thorough info on, I wanted to write articles on them. So by March 15, 2022 I had over 100 articles published!

More so, considering this is an anime cover band, anime and Japanese music resources were a given blog niche. I thought about all I wanted to find out about Japanese music and how I couldn’t find resources back then so I figured….I could fill the gap in this niche.

To be fair, who else could do it? Not only was I well versed with Japanese music, but I play instruments, I understand music theory, and I know enough Japanese to sort through songs, translate some lyrics, and sift through the Japanese side of the internet….and of course, I love to write!

Thus, I started writing more Japanese music related bogs, including a theory and instrument list, why Japanese music sounds different article, common lyrics  dictionary, and a bunch of song lists for beginners of different instruments.

Anything i would have loved when i was searching in 2020, I decided to do the research and make it myself on this blog. I have summarized all my articles and downloads on my J-music resources page
