Ahh, the bass. Slap the subscribe button (if you know, you know). Bassists are often neglected and made fun of in a band, but they are one of the most, if not THE most, essential instruments in a group. You may not notice them when they’re there, but you’ll definitely notice them when they’re gone.
Japanese music has certainly shown me what amazing things bass can do, and it’s not rare for me to find myself listening and grooving more to the bass than the other instruments.
I’ve been keeping an ear open for songs with some funky basslines and have collected them in this list. I’m sure it will be a lot more fun than just playing 4 notes throughout.
If you’re not up to this level yet, I have another article that has 25 Easy Anime Songs For Bass. And after you’re done with this list, I also have 10 MORE Anime Bass Songs with Funky Basslines for you.

Haruka Kanata
Naruto
Tabs | BPM = 175
From the very top til the very end, this bassline is quite funky. I don’t know if anyone could hate this song cause it’s just so good. You’re bound to have fun with this one!
Melissa
Fullmetal Alchemist
Tabs | BPM = 170
Another song that likes to have fun from the beginning. Out of all the instruments, it’s definitely doing the heavy lifting for the groove of the song.
Monster/Kaibutsu
Beastars
Tabs | BPM = 169
This is quite a bass heavy song. And by that, I mean there are 4 bass parts to choose from. While it is mostly octave riffs, I’m sure it’s still more fun to play than a single rhythm.
On Your New Journey
Bang Dream
Tabs | BPM = 118
The bass for this song starts off pretty basic, but keep watching. It actually has a lot of riffs and a lot for you to work on. There’s a whole lot of slides if that’s something you’ve been meaning to work on!
Kyouran Hey Kids
Noragami
Tabs | BPM = 142
When I thought about making this list, this was the very first song I thought of. The bass goes hard throughout with many funky riffs and I love it for that.
Cagayake Girls
K-ON!!
Tabs | BPM = 170
The very first opening of this classic band anime. The bass certainly stands out and makes this song top level. It’s really fun and there’s a few slides and bends in there just for you.
Giri Giri Chop
Detective Conan
Tabs | BPM = 117
I remember hearing this song for the first time while watching the series and I was obsessed with it. It’s personally my favourite opening, both for the crazy guitar but also for the bass. Sadly, I’ll probably never be able to cover this, but if you decide to try it out on bass, please let me know! ^_^
Strawberry Trapper
Love Live
Tabs | BPM = 200
I came across this while digging for songs specifically for this list and I just felt it was a great addition. There are parts where the guitar gets to do some crazy solo licks, and even if the synth and guitar is quite loud during the chorus, you can still hear the bass having fun in the background.
Make My Story
My Hero Academia
Tabs | BPM = 133
I loved this song from the first time it played during the show. While the guitar riff starts this piece off strong, the bass becomes the start of the show from the verse onwards. Note that it does require a lower tuning!
Hikari
K-ON!!
Tabs | BPM = 160
A shorter instrumental song, originally from the girl’s teachers previous metal band. This song goes hard. This clip especially has sold me and I always find myself coming back to it if I need a laugh.
Conclusion
I hope you liked this list and found at least a couple songs to the list of tracks you plan to take on. If not, don’t worry! I have an article with 10 MORE Anime Songs with Funky Basslines for you.
