15 MORE Anime Songs with Funky Basslines (+Tabs)

Back for more groovy anime bass songs I see? Or perhaps this is your first time coming across my website. If so, welcome! I have made an article called 10 Anime Songs With Funky Basslines already, so if you haven’t seen that yet, that’s 15 more songs for you! No reason for a second introduction here 🙂

I’m sure some were expecting this one in the first article thanks to Davie504 who made it super popular, but hey, here it is now haha Definitely a fun song with a repetitive bassline to help you get those fingers moving at a faster pace.

This is definitely a classic that can’t be missed, especially if you like jazzier songs. This one is slower than Golden Wind, but it’s a great song to practice your groove and timing since the notes land a bit off-beat. It is 4/4 time but has 6 notes per bar.

Abnormalize

Psychopass

Tabs | BPM = 175

Looking for a cooler rock song? Why not try this one out? The tabs are written in a lower tuning, but you can just play all the notes 1 fret higher than written since there are no 0 notes. In this song, you’ll get to practice even eight notes, dyads (2 note chords), slides, rests and more. Definitely a great early intermediate song to try out.

Goya No Machiawase

This and Kyouran Hey Kids which was mentioned in the first article, are some of my favourite anime songs where I just can’t get enough of the bass. You’ll get to have more fun with your riffs and melodic parts in this one. It’s also a great way to learn to play harmonies and get used to your part not matching the bass note of the chord as you play with some riskier note degrees.

Go Go Maniac

Tabs | BPM = 250

I mentioned Cagayake Girls in the first one, but I definitely think this song has a funkier bassline. It is quite fast, but if you’re checking out this list cause you want a challenge, I really can’t think of a better song. Well, actually, I got a few listed in the conclusion that I think are amazing but don’t have tabs, so if you can learn by ear, definitely check those out too!

Cardcaptor Sakura

Tabs | BPM = 164

The very first opening of this classic band anime. The bass certainly stands out and makes this song top level. It’s really fun and there’s a few slides and bends in there just for you. Don’t let the BPM scare you. This song mostly contains quarter notes with a few eighth notes, so I think it’s a great song for a late beginner who is just learning to explore the fretboard and who wants to get comfortable playing on higher strings.

Kaikai Kitan

Tabs | BPM = 185

I had this song in mind the first time, but it requires a 5 string bass guitar with the lowest string set to B. If you have such a guitar and haven’t had a song that really required that lower string, this is a great funky track to learn!

Mixed Nuts

Spy x Family

Tabs | BPM = 150

If you’re watching this series as it’s airing, I’m sure the bass in this track definitely got your attention. If you’re not watching, welp, you should definitely check it out. You definitely won’t be bored with this track, if your fingers could remember and keep up anyways!

Shiki no Uta

Tabs | BPM = 95

This classic hit has quite a few repetitive parts, and it is at a slower pace which is great for late beginners trying to challenge themselves. If you find yourself wanting to learn something harder, but being unable to get through a whole song, definitely try this one out!

Hitohira no Hanabira

Tabs | BPM = 140 | D# Tuning

This song has 4 guitar parts, but you may as well consider it 5 as the bass adds a lot of melody and rhythm of it’s own.

Demon Slayer

The tabs has a 5 string guitar but don’t worry, the bottom B string is never used so a regular 4 string bass is perfectly fine! If you want to get more practice playing on the higher strings, and also getting your hammer-ons and mutes down, there’s really no better song than this. Op! Of course, slap bass is highly recommended as well.

My Boy

Shugo Chara

If you like faster rock songs and want to get your fingers up to speed while still having fun, check out this track. You’ll get to practice bends, slides, dyads, along with other lead licks!

The Hero

One Punch

Tabs | BPM = 130| Drop D Tuning

This song has some pretty simple and basic basslines, but then it goes crazy, it goes crazy. You can practice your slides, pull-offs, and even some 16th note riffs.

Karma

Tales of the Abyss

Tabs | BPM = 192 | D# Tuning

While this song does have a higher BPM, it doesn’t go beyond eighth notes, and there are lots of breaks and slower sections. The notes stay in the same area as well, so I think this is a great song for a late beginner/early intermediate who will want to take on other songs on this list one day.

Fuyu No Hanashi

Last, but definitely not least, we got Fuyu no Hanashi from the newer band anime, Given. All the songs in this show are great, especially for all band musicians. The bass part is quite melodic and groovy, and it’s a great opportunity to work on your hammer-ons if you haven’t had much chances to practice recently!

Conclusion

Hope you discovered a few new songs you would like to try out from this list! There are a few other songs I wanted to include like Flashback from Kokkoku, The Hellsing Op Theme, and Let Me Be With You from Chobits, Monochrome City from Koikimo, Daddy Daddy Do from Love Is War, and Cry Baby from Tokyo Revengers, but I couldn’t find tabs for them. If you can learn by ear, they are certainly worth checking out as well!
