🌸 Nostalgia | Key2Nostalgia 🌸

Music student and Anime fan from childhood, Japanese music fan since teenhood. I picked up guitar as an adult to bring my band dream to life and started the Chromatic Dreamers Band Project in June 2021, followed by this blog in October 2021. Having struggled to find useful content on Japanese music, I was eager to fill that gap. In Summer 2022, we achieved our goals of playing at an anime convention. In Summer 2023, the singer and I reunited as "Natsukashi Kumo" and performed at a festival! During this time, I dug deep into Japanese Music Theory as I struggled to understand why and how Japanese music sounded the way it did, and have shared all I learned on this blog. While I grew up Christian, I was raised in a legalistic church, so only around New Years 2023 did I come to believe the true gospel and was born again. I received FL Studio as a gift and released my first song "Be Courageous" (inspired by Joshua 1:9) a week after. I spent most of 2023 studying the bible, and indulging in Christian content. I told God that after the festival, I wouldn't play guitar again unless for him, and in January 2024, I was recruited to play at a church plant. I have since changed direction on my blog to focus on Japanese Christian Music, and Christian themes in Anime.

So...change of plans, but things always work out f So...change of plans, but things always work out for God's people ☺️😉 The first studio didn't allow drums and had other issues with the size of the group, but thank God, we found another better and bigger studio, 4 minutes away, available the same night ❤️🙏🏾 Had to shoot 2 hours later than expected, and finished the last take at 11:15pm, but energy was high and all went well ☺️ This building actually brings back a lot of memories. I came here about 4-5 times pre-pandemic when it was The Monkey Vault, a parkour gym. I have yet to visit their new location at Downsview Park which is waaaay closer to me, but it was interesting seeing what they did with the place! Special shout out to @rainhardbrewing next door for allowing us to rest there as we waited for the room, and even allowing us to practice singing while their business was going on as usual 🥹🙏🏾 We only ordered some sodas but they treated us with love regardless ❤️ 5-stars! But yeah, I had a lot of fun shooting with this group of people that I've never met before. Felt like part of the group and everyone worked together to pull this off. So...I was asked yesterday if I was available to b So...I was asked yesterday if I was available to be the guitarist in a gospel music video that was being recorded today 👀 I usually don't care for last minute things, but after finding out more details, I figured 'why not?' They seemed to really need a guitarist and it was an opportunity to serve, meet other Christians/musicians, and just have a new experience 🥰 After I said 'yes' to the organizer, she called to thank me and told me that they were deciding between me and another profile...but when they saw my testimony in my last post, they knew I was the one 🥺 I don't even know how one could find local profiles via Instagram, but God works in mysterious ways 🥰 Anyways, I'm looking forward to worshipping with this group in a little bit. I'm sure the song will go on to bless countless people. If you haven't guessed it yet, my 'weekly gig' is If you haven't guessed it yet, my 'weekly gig' is at a church plant! I share my testimony in the post. As for my first visit, I really wasn't planning to be on stage 🫣 I was only given one song, so I thought I may just audition or practice with the others, but they plugged me in and I played through songs I've never heard before, with some help via the keyboardist flashing progressions my way 🙏 Even stopped at the same time without a cue, it was crazy. I surprised myself! I'm excited to work more on improv and playing by ear through this opportunity. Moving forward, I'm obviously not going to be recording/documenting much, if at all, but I wanted to give an update to anyone who has been following my journey. I got a couple online musician friends who were saddened when I told them "I'm not interested in playing again unless for God"....but I certainly wasn't expecting an opportunity to pop up so soon! 🥹 It's honestly crazy seeing where me just picking up the guitar and pursuing my childhood band dream seriously could go. As a bucket list thing, I was fine with just one performance. I was satisfied just getting it off my chest and moving on with my life...but it just kept on going! Ending the band project at a festival is also crazy! But it didn't leave me feeling more fulfilled. It was just another gig. It also wasn't with a band, which is what my heart desired most. I don't need or want attention. It was never my goal to be famous. I just love playing music with others, and music is meant to be heard! My only hope is that I've inspired other rookies to also put themselves out there <3 Thank you all for the support, especially those who were here from the beginning. Your positive and encouraging comments truly meant a lot to a rookie like me 🥺🥰 It was an honour to share my crazy story with everyone. Here we go again!~ Something about packing up and Here we go again!~ Something about packing up and going to a new location is a mix of excitement and nerves. Meeting new people and embracing new experiences, but also not knowing what to expect or if they'll be prepared to receive you. (And yes, Imma wear pink and colour code my stuff as well. Why? Cause what other musician is gonna use pink?? 🤣🤣🤣 Funny enough, I never liked pink as a kid, but it's really grown on me since I chose that as my band colour. Really suits my skin tone haha) You could never be too prepared as a guitarist. You try to pack light, and that just happens to be the one day your strings break, or you need an extension chord for your pedal board, or you're starving/thirsty and there's no place or time to grab a snack 😱 I usually stay within my city as a bus user (been taking the TTC since I was 8. I got my G license in 2022, but never had any intention of owning a car), but this weekly gig would be a 2-hour bus ride away. Thankfully, they've arranged a ride for me 💝🙏 Yes, I'm getting a ride with a stranger....but I've taken Uber multiple times already 🤣 On that note, as many excuses as I could try to make regarding this, I really have none. Yeah, Sunday's my only 'free' day as a Sabbath keeper, but that didn't stop me from rehearsing with my band that day or attending other gigs that day. Yeah, I'm a night owl, but this place starts at 2PM. Yeah, it's far, but I've travelled to Japan, Halifax, and Yellowknife on my own pre-pandemic. God has always ensured me safe travels, so instead of being anxious beforehand, I'm just learning to trust and be more positive ahead of time. I could always be disappointed afterwards but...if this does work out, it'll be everything I prayed for and everything I promised I would do this year 😄 Also, check out my pedal board! I got 3 new Donner pedals this week, as they would be very vital for this sound. Past gigs, I've just used an amp, or a pre-amp pedal into a PA/DI due to laziness and cheapness, but I really want to focus on my tone and the right ambiance this time around 😏 #guitarist #guitargirl #torontomusician #newopportunities #2024resolutions #startofsomethingnew #excited
